Booking conditions

Last updated 1 March 2026

These conditions apply to every traveller who books a departure with Mongol Trails. Accepting the terms checkbox on the booking form means you have read and agreed to them.

Deposit and balance

A deposit of 25% of the trip price secures your seat. The balance is due in full 60 days before departure.

If you book within 60 days of departure, the full amount is due at the time of booking. Payment can be made in Australian dollars (AUD), US dollars (USD) or Mongolian tögrög (MNT).

Cancellation policy

We understand that plans can change. Our cancellation policy aims to be fair to our explorers while also protecting the local families and partners who help make each expedition possible.

Cancel 6 weeks or more before departure: receive a full refund of all payments made.

Unexpected circumstances: if you need to cancel due to unforeseen personal circumstances, significant family matters, illness, injury or another genuine situation beyond your control, please contact us as soon as possible. We will consider each situation fairly and work with you where we can.

If we can fill your place: if you cancel after the 6-week deadline, we'll do our best to help. If we can fill your place with another traveller, you may be eligible for a full or partial refund, depending on costs already incurred.

To cancel your booking, simply contact us at mongol.trails@outlook.com. We ask that cancellation requests be made in writing so we can confirm the date of cancellation and the applicable refund.

Cancellation by Mongol Trails

If we cancel a departure for reasons of weather, safety, or a group not reaching a minimum of four travellers, we will offer a transfer to another date or a full refund of everything paid. We are not responsible for international flight costs.

What is included and excluded

The price includes guiding, ground transport, all accommodation (ger, tent or hotel), park entry fees, and all meals during the trip.

International flights, visa fees, personal travel insurance, tips, and personal spending are not included.

Travel insurance

We strongly recommend comprehensive travel insurance that covers trip cancellation, interruption, medical expenses, emergency evacuation and adventure activities such as multi-day horse riding and trekking.

Travel insurance can provide additional protection if you need to cancel or leave an expedition due to circumstances covered by your policy.

Changes to your booking

We do our best to accommodate requests to change dates or traveller details, but changes may not be possible within 30 days of departure.

Force majeure

Where a departure cannot run for reasons beyond our control, including natural disaster or government restriction, we will prioritise a transfer to a future departure.

Complaints

Raise any issue with your guide as it happens. For a written complaint after your trip, we respond within 14 days.
